Temples & Snow

My friend Elena had mentioned to me that she wanted to hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing. So this past Sunday we met my grandparents at temple square to hear the choir and do the temple square thing.
She loved it. Not just the choir, but all of it. I wish we would have taken more pictures but it was a little cold and drizzly. She wants to go back soon though, so we will get some good ones.
Elena kept telling me while we were there how peaceful she felt. She had lots of great questions and I was so happy that my grandparents were there to help her with their short, simple temple square missionary answers. The whole day was amazing. After the temple we went back to my apartment where I had some tomato basil & rice soup waiting for us.
At school this week Elena kept telling me how special Sunday was to her and how she wanted to go back soon. We have some fun things planned to do and I am so excited.

Through out all of this I couldn't help but think how grateful I am for everything that I know to be true...and also how much I take for granted. That I can see my family after I die...that I can pray to my Heavenly Father and more importantly that I know He hears me...that when we mess up we can repent...that I can feel the spirit, or peacefulness, in my life every single day.

It was snowing when I got up for school yesterday. It's so pretty...but I'm not ready for it. I'm not ready for it at all. I wish that it only snowed Dec-Feb. I don't want Fall to be gone...

Curtis Update

Remember my brother Curtis???

I miss him...

a lot!

Maybe it's because we have been trying to get his birthday package ready. Maybe not. But I've been thinking about him a lot lately. He is finishing up his mission in South Korea. He should be home in 3 months...January. He decided to extend so that's not happening anymore. March seems so much further away than January.

Even though I'm sad that he is extending I'm super proud of him. He has changed a lot. In very good ways, of course. Who would have thought that Curtis would go to an extremely hard mission, learn a crazy hard language, and want to extend? Not me...sorry Curtis.

South Korea is a super hard mission. Curtis is such a great example to us of finding happy things in not so great of circumstances. He is in an area right now where there is only one little branch around...of only 4 members! So crazy.

He looks so different to me!

Curtis is so good with everyone...gang bangers to old people... everyone loves him.

His little advice for the week was to share a spiritual thought to investigators before they get drunk...that way they might remember the message. haha. love him.

I miss you Curtis!

fall break with out Shawn

Bryce's family invited my family to their friends cabin over the fall break. I didn't have any plans but Shawn's boys had State Cup. It was a hard decision for me to make. Worst part was that Bryce told me that we probably wouldn't have any cell service! I know...I'm a baby.

On our way there we stopped at a little town...Fairview? It was really close to the cabin. Anyways we stopped for some hamburgers (everyone else had hamburgers, I opted for a raspberry shake and french fries, so healthy right?) It was pretty depressing with everyone in coupled off in booths and I had to sit all by myself!
My parents with Lynette & Andy

We stayed at this pretty cabin.
Kevin thought he was so tough...He climbed up this tall tree trunk...he was wishing he had his new ninja shoes. It would have been more stealth-like gramma (:

gramma after hearing kevin's ninja shoes story:
gramma: steeeeaaaallllth?
Kevin: yes gramma, stealth.
gramma: stealth?
Kevin: YES, STEALTH
gramma: what the HELL is stealth? (first time I have ever heard her swear)

Bryce's Family: Andy, Lynette, Bryce & Nate.
The first night my mom made us all go on a walk. I agreed hoping that I would find cell service. NOPE. So annoying. We walked for like 45 minutes. We stopped to pose on this awesome, old snow tractor thing.
The trees were very pretty.
My mom pondering.
Kevin playing his guitar
Friday morning we drove to the Harris' property that was near the cabin and we spent most of the day there. I had service right outside of their property. It had been like a whole 26 hours that Shawn and I didn't have any contact. Not even text! ... They had this fun little rope swing. Their property is awesome for 4-wheeling and maybe one day they will get me up there to really "rough" it and camp.
Lynette took us on a "girls" trail.
And then we went on a tougher trail. It was lots of fun and so pretty. Everyone underestimated my sweet 4-wheeling skills.
Spencer chillin
Kevin & Spencer went fishing with my dad and then cooked what they caught or dinner. They were very proud.
Another fire.

We had so much fun at the cabin. Bryce's family is so nice and so much fun. We had fun watching movies, enjoying nature & playing games. The boys tormented me for most of the trip (I had to resort to pinching and scratching) and I was ready to go home on Saturday. I missed Shawn so much.

When I got home we had a couple of things to do and then Shawn went to work at the Real game. Because he was working the game we got 2 free tickets. My friend Elena came with me. It was weird watching a game with out Shawn. Real won 2-0. We are back at the very top of the league. Elena was so cute and so excited to be at the game. She called her husband every time we scored. Elena is in my hygiene program. She is from Seattle and moved here when she got accepted into the program. Her husband lives and works in Seattle...so she rarely gets to see him. I would not be able to handle it! When I first met her she didn't know anyone in Utah and was living in a hotel all by herself! She is annoying because she is super gorgeous and teeny tiny...oh and because she has an awesome accent. She moved to the US 5 years ago from Romania.
I don't know why this picture turned out retarded. sorry.

Then after the game Ashely & Scotty came over to watch a movie. I should have taken a picture. It's always fun to have them over!

I had a good fall break. I just hate being away from Shawn. Next weekend he is going to Idaho with his dad. Not going to be good.

My 24th Birthday Celebrations!

I turned 24 last week.
i lOvE bIrThDaYs!!!
My birthday week was kicked of by a joint sunday birthday shared with Brandyn at the Blymiller's on the 3rd. He turned 29 a couple of weeks ago.
I was spoiled with presents and we had fun just hanging out and eating.
I thought this was a cute little precious moment with Payson & Shawn. He is almost 8 which means his sweet little cuddling days might be almost over.

On my actual birthday, the 7th, Shawn took the morning off to sleep in and lounge around with me. Shawn made me a vegan meal the night before my birthday. It was very yummy. I was so proud of him for thinking of something to make all by himself!
He even remembered to serve it on our traditional red celebration plate. This picture of the meal doesn't look very good. But I promise it was so yummy!

I met up with my friend Angie for lunch at Happy Sumo. This isn't the best picture of either of us...
It's always fun to see Angie. When I got home Shawn had left some beautiful fall flowers on the table for me.
That evening Kevin & Spencer came and picked Shawn and me up to go to dinner. We tried going to a japanese restaurant...but it was super busy...on a Thursday night! The owner (Alex) is a very popular guy. He remembers all of his customer's names which we love...and is what probably keeps him so busy. We ended up just going to Chili's. Which I was happy with. I can never say no to chips'n'salsa'ranch.
I love my brothers. My parents were out of town. OH. Spencer had just taken 1st place in his golf tournament so we had an extra great night!
Yesterday I had my second Sunday Birthday with my family. I asked my mom to make salmon. It was amazing.
Bryce, Ashley & my grandparents joined us. We had fun hanging out...and playing a few rounds of Hearts.

My parents gave me lots of fun presents!

Ashley & Bryce.
My mom makes the best ice cream cakes ever!

I had a great birthday week. I wish I could skip all my even birthdays. I'm excited to be 25...
