Soccer & Scott & Jenn

February was a busy month...but not as busy as this month will be. We went to Colorado with Shawn's older team for some friendlies at the beginning of the month. The coach at Mesa State wanted to introduce himself to Inter...and show them their amazing facilities. Pretty much the whole time I heard about how Shawn wished he would have gone there instead of Iowa. It was freeeeezing cold! I might have only made it out of the nice hotel for only one game.

The next weekend we went to Mesquite for Presidents Cup with Shawn's U14's. We were hoping for the same weather as we did last year but we got gypped. It was drizzly and cold for most of the weekend.

I have been lazy lately...actually more like really busy & stressed lately.

Tis the season for lots and lots of soccer tournaments. Last month we had one in Logan with the '97 team. That tournament is always a lot of fun.

Shawn has started a tradition to do ice baths every year at this tournament. The boys seriously LOVE it. They complain, but really they would be so disappointed if he didn't do them. This year Shawn decided to join in on the fun.

The 24th of July was spent at Mickie's little lake by her house. I didn't take any pictures but we had fun. That evening we went to the Real game and stayed for the fireworks. It was such a hot, sticky night!

Shawn's Grampa passed away July 23rd. His funeral was last Saturday. At the funeral Shawn read a cute little letter he wrote to his grampa. I will have to post it on here later, if he will let me.

Brothers

A lot of Shawn's cousins and aunts and uncles came into town last week for the funeral. We spent almost every night hanging out. We both really enjoyed it.

I had to give a presentation in my Communications class this last week. I decided to do it on how to make ice cream. . . Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I have one of their recipe books. I seriously have made SO MUCH ice cream the last couple of weeks! Our freezer was packed!

Just some of the many flavors...Raspberry, Chocolate Peanutbutter, Chocolate Cinnamon & Cookie Dough. They are all so yummy. We have lots left over so come over and help me eat it!!!

Hayden Tate Schneider was born August 3rd!

It was a long, long day for Mickie. He was not ready to come out! Mickie asked if I wanted to be in the room this time...of course I said yes! It was such an awesome experience that I will never forget. I was surprised by how emotional/spiritual it was. AND she made it look like a piece of cake. She was laughing thru most of it.

Both of Shawns teams played in the Park City tournament this last weekend. It's always hard having 2 teams in a tournament because Shawn is running around like crazy...and there are always a couple of games that conflict with each other. Both of his teams did really well, they both took 2nd place for their age groups. Of course the 2 finals were at the same time. The coaching director took the older boys, and Shawn took the younger. In between games we went to lunch with Kioko & Karl. I love them. I should have taken a picture. Then we met up with some of the boys and saw "Salt" (loved it, surprisingly).

Busy Weekend

This weekend was filled with lots of fun stuff. Shawn left on Thursday for Boulder Colorado with his older boys for a soccer tournament. We were bummed I couldn't go but I had school on Friday. I decided to stay the weekend at my parents because I didn't want to be home all by myself. Thursday after work I headed out to my parents. My parents were gone for the night. I wanted to hang out with my brothers but they had better things to do so I hung out at my grandparents for a while. They just had all of their flooring redone. It looks great. We watched a little bit of the NBA finals and had some ice cream. It was fun.

Friday I had school during the day. Its weird getting back into the whole school routine. A weird good I guess. I used to hate school. Now I actually prefer school to work. Friday night I headed out to the Schneider's for Preslie's 1st birthday party!

Pres is such a cute little chunk. She is walking all over the place! It was so hard to pick out a present for her. Way too many fun girly things. I settled on this swimsuit at Nordstrom's that has a built in diaper. The moms that were there shopping were going on and on about them. I can't wait to go shopping for my own babies.

On Saturday we pretty much spent the whole morning and early afternoon in the backyard. I washed my car while everyone else weeded (not my weeds anymore). I had plans to go to a couple of weddings that evening but we decided to celebrate Father's Day instead. I wasn't excited to go to the weddings with out Shawn anyway.

The boys took my dad & grampa out for 9 holes. Then we went to Olive Garden for dinner.

After dinner we went to the grocery store to buy stuff for banana splits. They made this cool Rodeo sign out of Coke & Fanta boxes. This is why I love Lehi.

We went back home and got a redbox. Tanner & Ashley got into town for Dave's Wedding. They stayed with us.

Sunday we all went to church together. Then in the afternoon everyone came over for a big bbq. I should have taken more pictures. Gary & Julie were there, the grandparents, Todd's family and our family. There will be lots of fun family stuff this week for Dave's wedding. I'm excited. . . I also have finals. I'm not excited about that.

This was the longest Shawn and I had ever been a part. I missed him a lot. He stayed very very busy with all of his boys. This is the first tournament that he had taken just a few chaperons and rented 2 big vans. It might be the last. He felt like he was a babysitter for most of the time. He also has lots of funny stories too. On the way home one of the vans broke down for a couple hours. It made the 8 hr drive that much longer. Yuck! I'm glad he is back.

I had a lot of fun hanging out with my family. I felt like I was young again and living back home. It was weird getting ready in my old bathroom and sleeping in my old room (now office). The best part was not having to stress about grown up stuff all weekend. Just little things like not having to cook. I love my family so much!

Twin Falls Tournament

Yet another soccer tournament to blog about. I did not take one picture. I'm horrible. It was a really fun tournament though. They had it set up like a little fair type thing. Lots of food and fun little soccer games. They had this thing set up to see how fast you could kick the soccer ball. You would pay 1 dollar for 3 shots. Matt (the biggest kid on the team) kicked a 64 mph. I told the parents that Shawn couldn't beat him. He tried so hard... he could only get a 63 mph. Poor Shawn. Matt ended up winning the competition though, so Shawn can't feel too bad. I'm sure he could have won if his knee was 100% They also had goalie wars at the end of all the games on Saturday. It was so much fun... except for when Chris got a mean concussion when diving into the pole.

They had these big army tents in between the soccer fields to go and get warm in. It was cold...really cold yesterday. The worst part was it was extremely windy. Our boys were so not used to the wind and could not judge anything out of the air. They totally killed the first team. Lost their second game...don't worry...I let them know it was the worst I have ever seen them play (like they care what I say). Saturday night we all went out to a little Italian restaurant...Tomatoes. It was really yummy. I feel like I'm getting to know the U14's parents a lot better. I feel much more comfortable with them. Maybe it's because there are hardly any LDS families on this team and so whenever we have a team outing there is some drinking involved! They are all awesome people and I actually look forward to the next tournament.

Sunday the boys lost in a shoot out in the Semi's. I hate shoot outs. Way too intense. The boys played awesome though. Shawn and I were so happy to come home to the warmer weather and the mild breeze. We are very wind burnt!

Vegas Tournament

We were in Vegas this last weekend for a soccer tournament for Shawn's U14 team. I was hoping the weather would be awesome and that I could my tan on ... but it wasn't. It was in the low 70's but there was this nasty cold wind the whole weekend. Oh well.

We checked in to the tournament friday night and then stopped by and surprised the Barnes family. It was fun to see them. Saturday all of the games started. Shawn had just one of his teams in the tournament, but was helping coach a younger team as well so he had 4 games on Saturday. I played with Scott and Jenn for the afternoon. Afton just turned one! She actually let me hold her and play with her this trip. So I was excited.

Saturday night we went to Red Rock and went bowling with the whole team. It was a good bonding experience for the boys, and it was nice for me to get to know the parents a little bit better.

Sunday the boys had just one game. They ended the tournament with a great win 5-1! I bet Shawn will make them run for letting that 1 slip by though...

Kevin was supposed to watch Maggie at our house ... but she ended up staying at my parents the whole weekend. When I got home her pony tail was cut off and her face was all trimmed. I was freaking out. I left my mom a note on the fridge telling her I would never forgive her for what she had done!!! The last time she was groomed they cut off her pony tail because I had forgotten to tell them to keep it...and so I've been waiting 3 months for it to grow out long enough to be able to do it again...and then my mom cuts it off. Oh well. It will grow back. She was just trying to be helpful. It better not happen with our future children's hair mom...you promised!

Valentine's in St George

We went to St George this last holiday weekend for the President's Cup Tournament with Shawn's U13 team. It really was a lot of fun. They won 2 out of 3 games...but didn't advance. It was unfortunate for the team, but I was excited. For me it meant we could go home on Sunday and then have all of Monday to relax and do our Valentine's day. It's hard being gone 2 weekends in a row... it's nice to get away but I hadn't had anytime to catch up on laundry or cleaning and all of that fun stuff.

Shawn's favorite cousin Mindy lives in St George with her kids and we were able to visit with them a lot. She is so much fun and so gorgeous. I can see why she is Shawn's favorite. She is awesome. She made me lots of smoothies on her sweet blender. I want one now! I can't believe I didn't get a picture of her or Kade or Ambrie.

The majority of our time was spent with the team. We were all shocked when we found out that the boys were playing on a full size turf fields...they have never played on a field this size! They were completely at a disadvantage because the kids didn't bring their turf shoes and they were playing against local teams who are used to playing on such a big field. The first game they had a pretty bad loss. The 2nd game they beat the team who actually beat the team they lost to. The 3rd game they won in a shoot out.

It is such a gorgeous time of year down there. I loved the red rock frosted with snow. It was a lot warmer than I thought it would be. I did not bring appropriate clothes! I made do with my boots and jackets. The last night we went to dinner at a mexican restaurant with all of the parents. It was so much fun. Inter has the best parents!
