In the meantime, here is what we've been up to. It's going to be long...just a warning.
I have been very busy with school. The end of October, and beginning of November were miserable for me. I didn't think I'd ever make it to Thanksgiving! None of my patients were showing up (which meant I had to be literally out on the street looking for patients), our instructors were throwing all of these random projects at us, and trying to cram 6 weeks of material into about 10-12 days...I started Oral Pathology, which is a crazy hard class...Oh, and I had to miss an Oral Path lecture to make it to my cousins wedding. Guess what? I will have 5% deducted from my final grade for missing one lecture + I had to write a 5pg paper on an unrelated topic. Don't worry, I met with the dean of education, and the director about it. Anyway, lots of stress, anxiety, and lots of nights spent crying to Shawn.
Thanksgiving Day in Vegas |
Shawn has been a busy man himself. He recently turned 28! Wow that seems kind of old. He helped out with State Cup a lot last month, and was recently given another team to coach. He has been working at eHealth Insurance enrolling old people for medicare. He seems to really like it, and comes home with lots of funny stories. He is working hard to prove himself worthy of being a permanent hire. He leaves for work at 6am, works until 3, and then heads straight to coaching. Some nights he doesn't get home until 8 or 9. He works so hard to provide for us, and never complains. Over Thanksgiving he took his new U14 Premier team to Vegas for a tournament. He has walked into this team amidst a lot of craziness, but a lot of the parents stopped and talked to me about how they are so impressed with him and his coaching philosophies. I am so glad that he gets to do something that he loves and that he is so great at...while teaching these kids values and a love for the game.
Sometimes I get frustrated and throw a pitty party for myself. I get overwhelmed with hygiene school and this phase of life that we seem to be stuck in. I envy those who are able to start a family...buy a house and are well into their careers. Occasionally, I let the pitty party last a while, but usually a favorite song pops into my head "Because I Have Been Given Much", and I am reminded how much I really do have to be greatful for. Life could be so much worse, and there are so many people who do have it worse than us. Shawn and I are looking forward to doing some special service projects this holiday season. If you want to join us, let us know!
